Caldwell Nature Preserve and Center

Learn all about Ohio's native fruit, the pawpaw. Called many things; such as the American Custard Apple, Kentucky Banana, and much more, this fruit has a great history and there are lots of ways that people celebrate its uniqueness. Join us as we hike out to our pawpaw patch and learn about this ice age relic. We will also have some samples of all things pawpaw.

Walk through a pumpkin-lit trail meeting characters from nature and history. This is a non-scary holiday walk best suited for children ages 3-10 years old. Make it a family tradition! This event is held entirely outdoors. Please dress accordingly for the weather. Closed-toed hiking shoes are encouraged. The trail is not stroller friendly. There are stairs and some uneven footing on parts of this trail. Please leave your pets at home. Participants are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes if you want however there are no trick-or-treat stations at this event. 

Join us on a moonlit October night to enjoy the Jack-o-lanterns and luminaries on the trail. There will be no costumed characters during this Saturday evening event. This special event is perfect for a romantic date or a peaceful family outing. Experience the magic of the forest as you see the artistic many pumpkin carvings spaced throughout the trail. Groups leave every 5 minutes. One hike through per admission. Prior registration is required tickets will not be available at the door. This event is held entirely outdoors. In rare circumstances, we may need to cancel in the event of thunder and lightning and/or wind advisories. Please dress accordingly for the weather. Closed toed hiking shoes are encouraged.
