Code Enforcement Quarterly Abatement Fee
The Department of Buildings and Inspections is responsible for issuing abatement fees to properties that have outstanding code enforcement orders. The fee was authorized by Cincinnati Municipal Code (CMC) Section 1101-64 (Ordained by Emer. Ord. No. 163-2018, § 8, eff. July 1, -2018).
The fee will be invoiced to owners of properties who have failed to comply with orders to correct outstanding code violations within 60 days of the order issuance date. The owner will be invoiced each quarter until the violation is corrected. The fee for the first quarter of non-compliance is $36.40. For each quarter the property remains non-compliant, an escalating fee will be issued up to a maximum of $166.40.
You can find the fee schedule HERE.
To pay the invoice please make a check payable to "The City of Cincinnati" and enclose the top portion of the invoice. Owners can mail the check or visit:
Department of Buildings & Inspections, Accounting-PMCE, 805 Central Avenue, Suite 500, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
Owners that have financial challenges can request relief. The owner can submit an application for relief along with a work plan that outlines their plan for gaining compliance. The process also evaluates any hazardous conditions and negative impact a delay may present. There is no charge or filing fee for requesting suspension of the fees.
