Community Engagement

City Council ordinance 0358-2021 called upon the administration to create a strong community engagement plan for the City of Cincinnati. In response, the Department of City Planning added "Engagement" to its title in 2021, and hired two full-time Community Engagement Specialists in 2023 to address this priority. The Community Engagement Policy and its implementation process have a dedicated website with exclusive information and resources about the initiative: click the link below to explore!

In 2021 the City Manager's Office instituted a policy requiring the Department of City Planning and Engagement to conduct engagement meetings for Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) projects that meet either of the following criteria:

  • When the City Administration proposes to City Council and appropriation for a loan of public funds of $50,000 or more to support a specific private development project; or

  • When the City will sell of provide a long-term ground lease of City-owned land or buildings with a fair market value of $50,000 or more to support a specific private development project.
