Fire Prevention Week Schedule of Events
Fire Prevention Week 2024
Sunday, October 6: Fire Prevention Week Kick-Off with the Bengals
Monday, October 7: Take the Fire Safety Pledge with the CFD
Take the fire safety pledge! Your Cincinnati Fire Department will be taking the Fire Safety Pledge, and we would love for you to join us and become a fire safety hero yourself. Click on the picture below, print the pledge, and sign it for all to see that you take fire safety seriously! Out of ink? That's okay! You can still take the pledge and let us know on social media that you did it by commenting on our photos.
Tuesday, October 8: College Community Education
The CFD is headed back to school! Find us at UC, Xavier, and Cincinnati State to learn more about career opportunities with the Cincinnati Fire Department and to learn some tips for campus (and home) fire safety. We created a nice resource guide, too; access it here!
Wednesday, October 9: Smoke Detector Community Blitz!
The theme of this year's fire prevention week is "Smoke alarms: make them work for you!" The Cincinnati Fire Department will be out in the community installing life-saving smoke detectors to keep our neighbors safe. The CFD has received a federal grant to install smoke alarms in the homes of Cincinnati residents, free of charge. Visit the 311 website today and begin a request for your detectors by typing "Smoke" in the Begin Request box. This offer is limited to Cincinnati residents only, while supplies last!
Thursday, October 10: Greater Cincinnati Firefighters Memorial
Join the Cincinnati Fire Department for the 2024 Greater Cincinnati Firefighters Memorial. The memorial will be held at Greater Cincinnati Firefighters Memorial Park, located 537 Central Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following with light refreshments, served at Fire Company 14. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Friday, October 11: Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest
Each year, the Cincinnati Fire Department Fire Prevention and Community Risk Reduction Division oversees a poster contest at a local school. Students are encouraged to create a poster that promotes the year's theme and teaches their community about fire safety. This year, we want to invite everyone who lives in Cincinnati to participate. We will name two winners, one from our Community entries and one from our selected school! The winner from our selected school will be named Fire Chief for the Day and have the opportunity to meet with Chief McKinley.
Have a poster to enter? Click here and upload it! All community entries must be received by October 9, 2024, 11:59 p.m. to be considered to win.
Saturday, October 12: Fire Prevention Party with the Cincinnati Fire Museum
Close out Fire Prevention Week with your Cincinnati Fire Department and the Cincinnati Fire Museum! Please join us for the fun of all the fire festivities, including a visit from the local fire trucks, a walk through the fire safety smoke house trailer, an opportunity to try out the fire extinguisher simulator, a walk through the Cincinnati Fire Museum and more!
