Purpose: Promotes the conservation, restoration, use and overall enhancement of structures and districts in the City having a special historic, architectural or community value. Advises City Planning Commission and Council on the acquisition or disposition by the city of historic easements or other interests in historically significant buildings. The Board shall establish and direct the administration of a program for the acquisition of such easements and interests and for the continued compliance with the terms of such easement agreements.
Meeting Schedule: Every other Monday, two times per month, at 3:00
Appointment: City Manager
Requirements: City Manager shall designate a member to chair the board. The Historic Conservation Board, established by ordinance in 1980, consists of nine members who are appointed by the City Manager. The Board must include at least one professional historic preservationist, one historian, one architect, one urban designer or planner, one attorney and one person engaged in the real estate or development business. At least two members must be registered architects, and at least three members must be community representatives.
