Cincinnati's parks offer an outstanding collection of public art and architecture that enhances our use and enjoyment of these open spaces. Public art beautifies, commemorates, educates, and stimulates. Park architecture not only serves public functions but symbolizes civic pride.
This site highlights some of the artworks to the present and buildings built through 1965. This is not totally comprehensive, parks without artworks or significant architecture are not included nor is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, which is operated on park property and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition to entries for each resource here, you will find a brief history of the park system and links on notable architects and select bibliography and a map. We hope this site will add to your appreciation for Cincinnati's impressive park legacy.
